The Pulse Detonation Engine (PDE) stands out as a leading contender for efficient engines capable of achieving hypersonic speeds. In this paper, we encapsulate a thorough investigation into PDE acoustics, unveiling critical factors that influence its sound characteristics such as sound pressure level, peak noise, and overall sound pressure level. The study explores the distinct acoustic signatures produced by the detonation process, detailing the variation in sound characteristics under different operational conditions. The paper reports precise measurements of time-frequency properties, including the shock wave energy and intensity distribution across frequency bands. The analysis provided significant output which shows at 20 Hz, the sound pressure level is notably high at 157.1 dB; peak noise levels observed at 4 Hz and 5 Hz suggest that the PDE generates particularly intense noise in the low-frequency range; and at 20 Hz, the overall sound pressure level varies from 8 dB to 148.18 dB. These results provide information on the pulse detonation engine's acoustic properties, identifying certain frequencies at which it produces loud noises and suggesting possible consequences for both environmental effect and operational efficiency. The comprehensive review serves as a valuable resource for noise control measures, propulsion system design, and influencing future developments in PDEs.
