This study examines natural and synthetic fibers' mechanical properties and performance. Current mechanical property investigations focus on flat panels rather than tubular profiles. The investigation focuses on tubular hollow specimens using the filament winding technique with kenaf and fiberglass fibers. The study compares the mechanical properties of tensile, compression, toughness, morphology, and water content. The results show that fiberglass outperforms kenaf fiber as a natural fiber candidate in the results for average tensile strength by 79.20%, average modulus by 79.10%, average tensile strain by 46.70%, average tensile modulus by 53.70%, and Toughness by 89.30%. However, the study highlights a few areas where natural fibers show superiority over fiberglass. Further investigations are necessary to enhance the mechanical performance of natural fibers. In summary, the usefulness of natural fibers has been demonstrated in hollow specimens, but their overall performance has not been fully explored yet.
